Cephiros, The One Winged Angel

While trying to setup a blog related application on my facebook and I find out my RSS feed is not working. So, I got to my site and I discover I am getting a 500 internal error. This is strange since I had not work on my blog for quite awhile and made no changes recently. So, backed up all my plugins, themes, images, and SQL database. Deleted the current installation. I was having some troubles after reinstalling but the issues are resolved now.

Became a writer over at Platform Nation and I posted my first review for Ticket to Ride. I am glad that I am given this chance to become better known in the gaming community and sharpen my writing skills. Check the site out. Lots of great people and many podcasts that are fun to listen to.

Looking foward to tomorrow being over with at work so my weekend can start. I will of course attempt to write here more now that I am car pooling to and from work. Remember, stay cool.

It’s been a crazy week so far. Well, not really but I have been pretty tired and not getting much accomplished. Last weekend I went to the Rush Snakes & Arrows tour up by Battleground, WA. It was the first time that I saw them in concert and I had a great time. My father came up to visit me so we could go to the concert together. It was a special concert for since Rush was the first concert he attended when he was a teenager. Of course I was really tired the next day because lasted just past 11pm and you have so much energy after something like that which prohibits you from going to bed right away.

Margarita Monday was blast again in Grand Theft Auto IV. Hanging with friends of Gamehounds Podcast and Platform Nation meant I had a great time. Playing video games with people are not complete dicks and are liked minded felt good. I hope to attend every Margarita Monday if possible.

As I listen to my gaming podcasts and try to an active member of Platform Nation. I’ve realized that I would like to get more involved with the gaming community. I don’t ever expect to start my own podcast since there are more than enough good ones there. In addition, I don’t think I quite have that radio voice. I am going to submit a writing sample to The Gamers Pub to review retro games. It will be a good experience whether or not I get the position. It will allow me to sharpen my writing skills.

Also, I’m going to start a game related blog on my domain separate from my personal blog. Just to make sure things are not cluttered between the two. I’ve already done some house cleaning with old posts in this blog like all those Youtube posts whose videos which are most likely not valid along with some personal ones I no longer want on the internet.

So, you’re thinking, what the fuck is up with my post title. Go to Youtube, search power thirst and you will all get it. Today was the first day of my new job doing freight verification. It is interesting to say the least. I think the data entry part and invoicing is going to be the easier part of my job whereas research of the freight is going to be the biggest learning curve.

So for a bit of an update. I have not received any replies from the girls I replied to on Craigslist. I dunno, maybe I need better pictures because the current ones I have really suck. It’s kinda disappointing cause I know I’m a great guy and good personality and all that fucking jazz.

Nothing much else to report. Went to Vitamin Shoppe and got some protein shake stuff, vitamins and weight management supplement.

So, I’m sorry I’ve haven’t been posting on my blog. Believe it or not I’ve been pretty busy with sorta of a social life. How about we rewind and such and I’ll tell you the full story, trust me… of course you trust me.

Tuesday, July 24th - Hung out with Eileen (Bob’s GF), Bob, and Josh. Played some Guitar Hero II, watched some bad movie and watched some Venture Bros and such. I stayed the night there.

Wednesday, July 25th - Hung out with all three of them again until Josh had work. We had some booze in our empty Viso bottles and got some juice to mix it up. Walking around Downtown Portland and we were getting pretty wasted. Went back to the Lloyd Center and Eileen got some lunch while Bob and I rocked the arrow smash of ITG. I did well for being under the influence. Got some more Vodka. Got wasted and made some tentative plans with my friend Christa.

Thursday, July 26th - Fucking lazy this day. Watched some TV, cleaned up a little in the apartment and got my haircut to its new short style.

Friday, July 27th - Had testing at this temp agency. It appears I can do 9200 KPH on the 10 key. Passed all of my tests and such. Later that day, Christa and I met up. Got some food at Subway. Back to her apt, hung out. Went to this strip club/bar and watched some cute strippers. The best one being Jasmine, our new stripper friend. We talked to her for.. I dunno about 1/2 hour. Walked up to Blockbuster, Got Leon the professional and Life is Beautiful. Got some pizza and beer at the Safeway. Watched the movies, had some pizza, drank some beer, and a good time was had. Discovered I suck at Dirge of Cerberus.  We talked and such.. pretty much sums up that day.

Saturday, July 28th - Christa and I headed over to the 24 hour Hotcake House. I never been there before but always heard about it and of course as she stated, it’s a hot spot of Portland. Headed to the Avalon Wunderland and played some video games. All kinds, DDR, Dance Manix, pinball, shooters, etc. After that, we parted ways at 39th and Powell.  It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I have a new friend that is pretty cool.

Tuesday, July 31st - Job interview in North Portland. Never been there before and I got lost. I finally made it and at the time I thought the interview went very well. Later that day I was hanging out with Bob, then eventually Josh and Eileen.. oh and one of her friends who I name I seem to have forgotten. It was discovered that I got the job I interviewed for earlier that day. So beers was purchased and merryment ensued. I got pretty smashed but did not wake up with a hangover which is good.

Wednesday, August 1st -  Hung out with the friends, around downtown and such. Bob and Eileen drove me home so I could let them borrow my Season 3 & 4 of Queers as Folk. It is a really good series. That’s about it, Played some Odin Sphere and advanced the story a little bit more.

Thursday, August 2nd - Hung out with Summer for late morning to a little bit in the afternoon. At lunch at a Chinese place that was pretty good.  Walked to the Goodwill and looked around there for a bit and then head to to a Starbucks and hung out. Met and talked with this Vet from the Iraq and such. Then we head out. She gets a thumbs up for digging my new style and looking cute. Yes, I said it, don’t hit me!

So, tomorrow is when I start my new job, 8:30am. Working until 3pm I think, but not sure. I have no concrete plans for the weekend but I’ll see what I can do! Replied to a couple Craigslist ads for women seeking men. Been nearly a year since Becky and I broke up. I’m feeling it is time to least gain new friends, casually date, but of course I’m not ready nor want to jump head first into a long term relationship.  Haven’t gotten any replies yet but I was thinking about making my own post too after I get some new pictures taken.

My friend Amy seems to think I need to smile more often. So overall, quality of life has gone up. Diet is working out great. Losing weight and such. More energy and more confidence and a fuck you attitude if people don’t like who I am. I’m sorry for all those LJ users since I have a Wordpress plugin posts to my LJ but I don’t remember how to cut.

So, I’m really sorry about the lack of updates or even the Youtube video of the day. This move has been keeping me very busy and of course we all know that I am fucking lazy. Daily Youtube videos will start up again on June 4th, 2007. Song of the Week will be updated on June 2nd, 2007.

• Finish all financial aid paper work for 2007-2008 school year
• Do all posting to my CIS122 online class
• Do laundry
• Clean up living room and other rooms in apartment

Monday, I’m going to the employment office to see if I can get unemployment benefits since I do have a job but it doesn’t start until September. I need to study for a math placement test. Probably going to take a math class this summer so I can transfer to Portland State by Fall 2008.

I’ve been playing World of Warcraft more. I really enjoy raiding again and I want to get started on some heroics as well. However, I don’t want to play as hardcore as I was and make it a lifestyle again. If I wanna do something in real life first then I will.

Starting on June 4th, I’m  going to stop drinking regular soda and start playing Dance Dance Revolution at least 1/2 hour everyday. In addition, going to stop eating fast food as much as I can.

So, I discover that Wordpress has been upgrade 2.2 and me being the person who always have to have upgrades for my software decided to do a manual upgrade since the Fantastico used by Gatorhost had not been updated yet. First, I did a backup of the database, backed up all the wordpress files onto my computer. Deactivated all plugins and deleted all files except for some and proceeded to the upgrade.php… well.. that completely failed.

So, what I had to do was delete the old installation completely, reinstall a fresh copy of wordpress and then I just replaced the files with 2.2 and that’s what I am currently running and everything was pretty using getting back to where I was.

Moving day draws closer, tomorrow I gotta call Comcast to have them come out and install cable/internet. I have to call the Apartment complex to setup the time that we get our keys and such, probably around Noon, gotta pick up the Uhaul truck around 1pm on Saturday.

I found the only negative side effect of the R4DS it seems that battery is used up alot quicker.

Since I moved to a new host, I’ve yet to upload my index file to the main domain along with all my other files I maintained with Dreamhost. So for now, I’m going to repost some of my poems from time to time. Most of the poems were written after a break up a couple years ago and I can admit would be called “emo”.

So, today was a pretty uneventful day for the most part. I got up around 10:30 am because Becky got me a Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s. I love them even though they are bad for you. My friend Josh came over to get some stuff and then he head to my other friend’s house, Lonnie. Invited me another friend’s party going on next Saturday on April 14th.

After that, I chatted with little bit with my good friend Summer, and then I hopped off to go play some Dance Dance Revolution. Some of my family came up from Roseburg because my nephew has surgery tomorrow. Tomorrow for me is going to be a busy day of catching up with all my reading homework. I don’t have class this Thursday because of a college in service day.

Well folks, you may have not noticed it but the blog has been fully moved over to my new host. I’m waiting for the rest of my domain to move over to the new host so I can make some other changes. Basically, what I did was make a backup of all the tables from database on the old host. In adddition, I made a full backup of the Wordpress install from the old host.

On new host, made a sub-domain for blog.cephiros.com, processed a new wordpress install. This created a new database with a different name. On the old host, made backups of the tables. Went into the configuration panels for new database on the new host. Dropped all the tables and imported the tables from my old database.

That’s that, going with a different program for my gallery and I will start to update that more often.

Just wanted to make a quick post since I just changed to the new name servers over to my new host. If you access my site currently at this time it will still appear normal. In addition, my livejournal crossposter plugin will post this to my livejournal. I’m really nervous about this move because really my blog is the most important thing about my current website and the thing I’ve put the most work into.

I’ve already done a full SQL database backup. In addtion, I’ve done a backup of just my SQL tables. I can already import the backed up tables to the new host’s Wordpress install which made a new database. Unfortunately, I cannot change the SQL database name at this time but hopefully I can change it soon.

So, if you’re wondering what is going on with my blog, this is the reason why. I had Dreamhost for over a year but the problems I had recently and the lack of help made we want to change from them.
